- Title
IS THE INSURER STABLE AND DEPENDABLE?
- Authors
Johnson, Chris
- Abstract
The article focuses on the problems faced by commercial property insurance companies regarding stability and dependability as natural disasters increased in 2010. Natural disasters have become more severe, such as the earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, floods in the U.S., landslides, windstorms and volcanic eruptions. Insurance rates are reducing despite the rising costs related to such disasters, creating positive balance sheets for insurance companies but also create the misconception on positive insurance market among insurance buyers. Another issues that add burdens to insurance companies are the rising prices and declining bond yields.
