- Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to understand the work ethic of superintendents practicing in a reform state. A purposive sample of superintendents was selected, Findings of this small preliminary study suggest that there is no one way in which to think about superintendents' approaches to reform. At times they described themselves as possessing a Protestant work ethic; and at other times, they thought of themselves as individualistic problem solvers responding to unique situations.
