- Abstract
Penile fracture (rupture of the corpora cavernosa) is a rare entity. The term trauma is due to a concussion of the erect penis that can injure the tunica albuginea of the corpus cavernosum, in which there is a continuum of the same from one or both corpora cavernosa which could be accompanied by urethral injury and hematomas penile cover. Today this entity represents a urological emergency. Urethral injury manifests as acute urinary retention or uretrorragia. Las most common complications are long-term erectile dysfunction, fibrous plaques, painful erections angulation and abscess. Patients who also have urethral injury may be complicated by fistula and urethral stricture urethrocutaneous. The most common production mechanism is trauma to the erect penis is usually during sex.
