- Abstract
Not only teacher's performance but also good textbooks have to meet certain standards to improve the quality of competence-oriented tuition. However, which standards are seen as relevant, is a matter of perspective. Consequently, in this sub-study of a greater study, the following research question was answered : What differences exist between primary and secondary school teachers as well as teacher trainers concerning the top-ten-standards for competence-oriented textbooks in science education? To answer this question, evidence-based textbook-standards were determined. To obtain these standards, provisional standards were identified qualitatively and weighted quantitatively according to their relevance by primary and secondary science-teachers as well as teacher trainers. Whereas teachers are largely concerned about the textbooks' suitability for use in teaching, teacher-trainers rather award competence-oriented aspects. In addition, primary school teachers weight teacher's manuals higher than secondary school teachers.
