The Use of the "Gospel of Thomas" in the Research on the Historical Jesus of John Dominic Crossan.
- Authors
Quarles, Charles L.
- Abstract
This article discusses the use of the "Gospel of Thomas" in researching the historical Jesus of biblical scholar John Dominic Crossan. The author examines Crossan's arguments for the priority and independence of the "Gospel of Thomas," illustrating that the features that lead Crossan to view Thomas as independent of the synoptic gospel tradition are better viewed as resulting from dependence on the synoptic gospels.
