- Abstract
The article presents a literary interpretation of the Lystran episode of the Biblical passage of Acts 14:8-20. Criticisms against Christians from the 2nd century satirist Lucian are described and related to the episode. Additional discussion focuses on how the Apostle Luke has adapted the major motifs of an ancient literary topos within his apologetic portrayal of Paul and Barnabas as the first rural evangelists.
