- Abstract
In health care there is a load of stress of the workers. In addition, according to the surveys of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work made on different professions, the health profession is the most exposed from the point of view of physical and psychological violence. A lot of health care professional person suffering from posttraumatic stress disorder caused by violence, and the physical and mental overload cause burn out and apathy among the staff. Hospitals and other health care related organizations must provide and maintain safe physical and psychological workplace conditions for their workers, which, in turn, will also assure their high quality of operations. Western European countries as well as the USA introduced strict guidelines regarding labor safety in health care organizations in order to prevent work place violence. Hungary does not follow the Western practice; regulators do not pay sufficient attention to this question. Therefore, in my assignment I would like to address this issue in detail and by doing so, hopefully, fill part of the void that characterizes this subject.
