- Abstract
The article presents a study which examined the occurrence of dermatophyte infection of the scalp (tinea capitis) in hairdressing salons providing service to immigrants and native population in high- and low-income areas of greater Copenhagen, Denmark. The variables considered include the use of Sabourand-glucose-agar (SGA), total number of customers and ethnicity of customers. A discussion on pathological dermatophytes and the role of hairsalons as vectors of infection is offered.
