- Authors
Hansen-Löve, Aage A.
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the novel "Chevengur," by Soviet author Andrei Platonov is presented. It analyzes the novel in the context of neoprimitivism, a movement of the Russian avant-garde in the 20th century. It discusses the neoprimitivist movement of the avant-garde in 1910s and 1920s, when artists showed interest in primitive cultures, folklore or subcultures of urban life. It also discusses the representation of compassion, primitivist detachment and anti-oedipal tendencies in "Chevengur."
