- Title
Lamarckian evolution explains human brain evolution and psychiatric disorders.
- Authors
Barry, Guy
- Abstract
The article presents a study which introduces that the dominant mechanism of current cognitive evolution is a combination of Darwin's hypothesis on pangenesis and Lamarckian somatic cell-derived epigenetic modifications, and de novo RNA and DNA mutations. It proposes that de novo mutations underlie psychiatric disorders such as autism and schizophrenia. It concludes that the Lamarckian inheritance is driving the human brain's evolutionary explosion with non-coding RNA-mediated mechanisms.
