- Title
A Jewish Ideological Perspective on the Study of Christian Scripture.
- Authors
Brumberg-Kraus, Jonathan D.
- Abstract
The article examines the New Testament of the Bible from the perspective of Jewish ideology. The Jewish study of the New Testament presents two ideological functions for modern liberal Jews. First, it helps to rebuild an alternative myth of Jewish community that unmasks the myth of normative halakhic Judaism. Second, it can be a source of showing the myths of Christianity's universality and uniqueness. These myths hinder a true pluralism for Jews to take positions of leadership in American society.
