- Abstract
The article focuses on a study conducted by James Bolton and colleagues from the University of Manitoba in Winnipeg, which identifies rates of self-medication in mood disorders patients. It references a study published in the 2008 issue of the "Journal of Affective Disorders." The authors found significant amounts of panic disorder and dependent personality disorder in males and high rates of generalized anxiety disorder and dependent personality disorder in females. It cites that self-medication was found at its highest rates during depressive episodes.
