- Abstract
Examines whether plasma measurements of intact parathyroid hormone (PTH) would be more discriminatory for aluminum bone disease when compared to assays which also measure carboxyl-terminal PTH fragments. Negative correlation between plasma N-terminal antiserum PTH (N-PTH) and surface bone aluminum; Better correlation between plasma N-PTH with low bone formation than the other assays which measure inactive fragments; Importance of a bone biopsy in patients thought to have bone aluminum accumulation based on the PTH data.
