- Authors
Hillier, Hilary
- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "Sons and Lovers" by D.H. Lawrence is presented. It analyses the dialect and grammatical patterns of the language spoken by novel's characters, focusing on the dialect of Eastwood and the Erewash Valley in England, represented in the novel as Bestwood. It also comments on Lawrence's use of linguistic differences as literary tool and suggests that the author used characters' speech patterns for creative purposes.
