- Authors
Bobev, Bobi
- Abstract
The article presents a study of the political relations between Bulgaria and Albania, two former Communist states of the Balkan peninsula, focusing on the post Cold-War period from 1989 to 2005. The end of the Cold War set the stage for a new bilateral relationship between both countries, based on their shared aspirations for democratization and European integration, that reached its high point with the signing of the Treaty of Friendship in 1993. Topics included are the history of Bulgarian-Albanian foreign relations since 1913 with a special emphasis on the Communist period, the international scene following the Cold War, and the high level of the bilateral relations.
