- Abstract
The article focuses on the study to assess maxillofacial injuries' incidence, aetiology and spectrum in sports as treated at Poland's Medical University of Lublin, particularly the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery. From 2007 to 2009, the results revealed that men in the age group of 20-29 years had the highest incidence of sports-related maxillofacial injuries. The sport with the greatest number of injuries was cycling at 45%, followed by football and roller skating. The incidence levels stress the need for mouth guards, helmets and face protection in sports.
