- Abstract
The article presents the author's response to the article "Invention Strategies and the ESL College Composition Student," by Ruth Spack. Spack in her article clearly displays the changes which have taken place in the teaching of ESL writing. An absence of resources and awareness about the reasonable processes that accompany actual writing has resulted in a deductive and instructive approach to writing. Introduction outlining into the process of composing is beneficial for international students. Outlining can be used as a tool for generating ideas in an ESL composition classroom. Schemata or rhetorical patterns can be presented effectively by using a formal outline.
