- Title
Dementia Diagnosis Brings Relief, Not Depression.
- Abstract
The article reports on a study which found that most patients tend to feel a sense of relief after getting their diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease (AD), published in the "Journal of the American Geriatrics Society." Brian Carpenter, coauthor of the study, cites one reason why a AD diagnosis can be comforting to both family members and patients. He adds that there is a decline in the number of physicians who do not tell their patients about their diagnosis since a study in 2004 because of the greater public awareness about AD.
