- Abstract
Background: Infantile hemangiomas are benign tumors that usually do not need any kind of treatment, however they have aesthetic issues that could lead to wrong managements. Clinical diagnosis is often easy, but reports describing dermoscopic features of infantile hemangiomas lack. Objective: To describe dermoscopic structures in infantile hemangiomas. Patients and methods: A transversal, descriptive study was performed. Seven lesions in six patients with infantile hemangiomas were included, so clinical and dermoscopic features were recorded. Results: Vascular structures with diverse morphology (globular, linear, corkscrew, and comma vessels), and milky-red areas were seen; in spite of being described as characteristic features of vascular lesions, lacunae were found in only one case. Conclusions: This study allows us to know about some different dermoscopic features seen in infantile hemangiomas, however more prospective studies, including more lesions are needed, so adequate clinical and dermoscopic correlation could be done, taking into account proliferative stage and evolution.
