- Abstract
The article focuses on the Bacillus stearothermophilus which acquires an extracellular oligo-1,6-glucosidase that also hydrolyzes p-nitrophenyl α-D-glucoside. The primary structure of the copied enzyme more closely corresponded those of trehalose-6-glucosidases, and the copied enzyme hydrolyzed trehalose 6-phosphate. Protein homologous to the trehalose-specific component of the phosphotransferase system was also detected upstream of the gene for this enzyme.
