- Abstract
The article discusses ethical and legal concerns in the healthcare of Jehovah's Witnesses (JW) who are forbidden to accept blood components. Topics include the religious doctrine of JW and the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society that do not allow the administration of primary blood components such as platelets, red blood cells and white blood cells but allows the use of albumin, interferons and immunoglobulins. It also mentions excommunication of JW members who accepted blood transfusion.
