- Abstract
In summer 2022, the implementation project for the scientific libraries in NRW and some hbz-network libraries from RP is under way. In the past, other university libraries or library networks have already presented their prolific Alma-implementation at the same place. Therefore, we will focus on the specific challenges in our project and report on the achieved milestones like wave 1 and 2 going live, as well as on the imponderables that lie ahead of us. In essence, we are confident that we found the right balance of centralisation and decentralisation: on the one hand side we offer central services as a work relief like administering electronic resources, interlibrary loans, Alma first level support after going live etc.; and on the other hand, libraries decide individually on the set up of their local institution and third-party integration. Considering the tight project planning in relation to the multitude of tasks, it only works out when all experts of the various functional areas – be it at hbz or at the libraries – collaborate in teams effectively and beyond their organisation. So far it has paid off.
