- Abstract
The article explores the 1990s films made by U.S. filmmaker Woody Allen, as well as their common theme of personal growth and self-knowledge. Some of these films are "Alice," "Mighty Aphrodite" and "Deconstructing Harry." According to the author, the center of Allen's tragic view of life is the impossibility of reconciling passion with stability. He describes the process of improved self-knolwedge underlying the film "Alice."
