Greer, Felicia; Gilbert, Jenelle N.
- Abstract
The article presents a number of standards-based activities for elementary physical education. The National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE) has published the National Standards for Physical Education to combat obesity in students. There are six areas of concern for these activities. Quick movement activities make students participate in the activities right away. Low organized activities are a warm-up for aerobics. Cooperative activities increase the self esteem of the student. Fitness activities improve the fitness levels of the students. Partner activities make students coordinate and cooperate. Small group activities offer meaningful experiences to the students.
