- Abstract
The article focuses on the significance of National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS), an assessment designed to determine teachers' effectiveness in teaching in the U.S. NBPTS has developed a set of high, rigorous standards which define what an exemplary teacher should know and be able to do about the assessment which measures when teaching practice meets those standards. The assessment is offered on a voluntary basis and does not replace the state licensure, however, it sets high standards for experienced teachers to assess themselves and their students.
