- Abstract
An experimental study was performed to investigate the seismic performance of slab-column connections reinforced with lattice bars. In the lattice reinforcement, the top and bottom longitudinal reinforcing bars are weld-connected to the web reinforcing bars that are used as shear reinforcement. The top and bottom reinforcing bars provide flexural resistance and anchorage for the web reinforcing bars. In this test, six specimens, including one without shear reinforcement, were tested under cyclic lateral loading and a gravity shear force. The test parameters included the length and layout of the lattice reinforcement. The test results showed that the lattice reinforcement improved the unbalanced moment-carrying capacity and deformation capacity of the slab-column connections by 1.08 to 1.44 and 1.29 to 1.88 times, respectively, depending on the layout of lattice bars. When the cruciform layout with additional diagonal layout was used, the lattice reinforcement showed a good structural performance even with a short lattice length of 3d from the column face.
