- Authors
Gilman, Sander L.
- Abstract
The article explores arguments about Jewish intelligence and stereotypes made during the Fin-de-siècle era in Vienna, Austria, and explores the biographical aspects and attitudes of poet Hugo von Hofmannsthal and philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein in this regard. The author discusses arguments about Jewish intelligence and productivity in the book "Das Rassenproblem unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der theoretischen Grundlagen der jüdischen Rassenfrage," or "The race problem, considered particularly in view of the theoretical foundations of the Jewish race problem," by Ignaz Zollschan. Topics include Zionist Max Warwar and his exploration of Jewish anxiety as well as von Hofmannsthal's friend Leopold von Adrian.
