- Authors
Howells, David J.
- Abstract
The article discusses the developments in the Manpower Services Commission (MSC) from 1974 to 1979 in Great Britain. MSC expanded steadily in the range and scale of activities and attracted public and political attention since its establishment in 1974. MSC has created agencies concerning public employment in the country which includes the employment services and the training services. The existence of MSC was confirmed with the major programs implemented such as the job creation, work experience, youth opportunities, and special temporary employment program for adults. The history of MSC showed the break up of the regionally integrated, traditionally organized department into semi-independent functional units, followed by its partial reintegration through corporate institutions.
