- Abstract
The article focuses on small island developing States (SIDS). SIDS have been recognized as being among those countries most vulnerable to the impacts of climatic changes. The most critical related threats which undermine their environmental, economic and social resilience are sea level rise, salt water intrusion, extreme weather events and loss of biodiversity and fragile ecosystems. The loss of land and coastal erosion will affect SIDS populations which mostly inhabit coastal areas, and will increasingly disrupt industries vital to the economic viability of SIDS populations which mostly inhabit coastal areas, and will increasingly disrupt industries vital to the economic viability of SIDS, particularly tourism.
