- Abstract
The article examines extrajudicial executions (EJEs) and the global dimensions of human rights violations. EJEs refer not only to assassinations for the purpose of transferring political power, but also to assassinations for the purpose of retaining political power. EJEs have become the tool of governments with precarious futures, such as Guatemala, Uganda, Chile, Argentina, Cambodia, Ethiopia, Iraq and Equatorial Guinea. Also discussed are summary executions, deaths of individuals in official custody, disappearances and government repression.
