An essay is presented discussing the author's reflections on participating in the online dating service OkCupid.com, the social dynamics of first dates and how to present one's self to a stranger, and the philosophy of Jean-Paul Sartre. Topics discussed include lying on first dates, Sartre's concept of "bad faith" in interpersonal communication, and sexual deviance.
