- Abstract
Objective: There has been a shortage of quality roughage in Turkey for many years. This causes a decrease in the quality and yield of livestock. On the other hand, Turkey is in the arid and semi-arid climate zone and is among the countries that are expected to be most affected by climate change. The shortage of forage crops and the expected negativities in climatic conditions make it necessary to grow plants suitable for stress conditions. Grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.), which is in the legume family, has a very important place in terms of animal nutrition, and it is highly drought tolerant and can grow easily in many different soils. Materials and Methods: This study; It was aimed to determine the grain yield and quality of the grass pea (Lathyrus sativus L.) genotypes (Gap Mavisi, Eren, İptaş, Karadağ, 1603, 2006, 2401, 4301, 4403, 5001, 6408, 6410 and S3) in winter and summer sowing in Yozgat ecological conditions. The study was established in 2019-2020 vegetation period and according to the randomized blocks split plots experimental design with 3 replications. Results: Grain yield, crude protein ratio, ODAP (Noxalyl-L-alpha, beta-diaminopropionic acid), total phenolic, total flavonoid, radical repellent activity (DPPH), and condensed tannin contents were determined in the seeds of plants. Conclusion: According to the data obtained from the study, it has been determined that summer sowing is superior to winter sowing, and some populations show better results than varieties in terms of animal nutrition and productivity.
