- Abstract
This article presents information on the study related to personality disorders. Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a diagnostic entity still in a stage of formulation. While there appears to be some feeling that the BPD is a nosological entity, the ability, until relatively recently, to identify diagnostic criteria reliably has been fraught with inconsistencies. Researchers in their review found multiple problems in methodology and difficulties with the acquisition of samples. Researchers found multiple sets of descriptive criteria for the diagnosis. Their concern was that despite expanding literature in the borderline area, little consensus was found on diagnostic criteria.
