- Abstract
Modification of leucosapphire properties by plastic deformation of a crystalline disk allows obtaining plates exhibiting variable tilt angle of the optical axis with respect to the surface. Such plates work as lenses for extraordinary rays. We investigate specific features of light refraction in a flat lens fabricated from the modified leucosapphire. An algorithm that allows calculating the index of refraction for an extraordinary ray at the surface of a flat lens is described.
