- Title
Rechtliche Hintergründe zu Cannabis in Deutschland: Der lange Weg zur Legalisierung.
- Abstract
In Germany, cannabis is increasingly being legalized. The first step was taken in March 2017 with the "Cannabis as Medicine" law, which allowed access to medical cannabis for seriously ill patients. A separate cannabis agency was established within the Federal Institute for Drugs and Medical Devices to control the cultivation of medical cannabis. Licenses for the cultivation of medical cannabis were granted to three companies. There are also import licenses for medical cannabis from various countries. There are efforts to legalize cannabis for recreational use as well, but this faces legal and international barriers. A draft law for private cultivation of cannabis has been published and is expected to be passed by the end of 2023. There are also plans for regional pilot projects with commercial supply chains, but these are still being discussed.
