- Abstract
Ethnographic museums have played a very important role in shaping the discourses on the Pyrenees, creating imaginary representations of the mountain. In general, a collective heritage has been preserved that is exposed to visitors with a vision of the past focused on themes such as the house, pastoralism and livestock, the landscape and the notion of the mountain, the forms of popular culture (witchcraft, legends), or crafts, far removed from the transformations that Pyrenean society has experienced. These images are the result of the influence of Pyreneanism and folklore, but also of the selection of certain resources for their tourist activation, legitimizing discourses of authenticity. The text presents a monographic analysis on the representation of the Pyrenean house, indicating that in this case it has been evolving from the most folkloric discourses to recent ones of an anthropological nature, pointing out the museological difficulties to present its most recent changes.
