- Title
Editorial: Extracellular Matrix: The Common Thread of Disease Progression in Fibrosis?
- Authors
Kolb, Martin; Gauldie, Jack; Bellaye, Pierre‐Simon
- Abstract
The editors comment on a study on the association of extracellular matrix (ECM) to the progression of lung fibrosis. They discuss the role of abnormal ECM properties in the progression of fibrosis and suggests the possible difference of the rate of disease progression or persistence between idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and systemic sclerosis (SSc)-related interstitial lung disease (ILD). They argue on the role of netrin-1 as mediator between mesenchymal cells and ECM.
