Towards a Sociological Theory for Extension.
- Authors

- Abstract
The article presents the example of a traditional farming community in Caleta valley, Australia, to discuss the basic concepts of the operation of agricultural extension. It is assumed that dissemination of information among farmers will result in farming practice changes, and the information and new practices will spread throughout the farming community from individual innovators. Several studies have pointed out that farmers see much of the information provided by the extensions as irrelevant. The adoption of new agricultural practices by farmers depends on its relevance as perceived by farmers and resources to use it.
