- Abstract
The article focuses on the electoral process leading to the 2006 presidential elections in Mexico. It considers the political campaigns of candidates Felipe Calderón of the PAN party (Partido Accion Nacional) and Andrés Manuel López Obrador of the PRD party (Partido Revolucionario Institucional) and cites the contentious nature of the electoral process and its results which handed the presidency to Calderón. The author also discusses government policy regarding political campaign advertising and discusses the post-election challenge of the electoral process by López Obrador.
