- Abstract
The article presents information on a medical case of dermatitis caused from a resin included in some printing inks, which was responsible for sensitization under particular circumstances. A 49-year-old man, complaining of pompholyx lesions of the hands of 3 years duration. He was a dealer in newspapers. He showed eczematous lesions on the hands, mainly on the palmar aspect of the fingers. He had had bacteriological tests and a course of hyposensitization with staphylococcal extract. They were performed because of the diagnosis of pompholyx. It is well known that printers may become sensitized to different resins, but our case has shown that people handling freshly printed newspapers can also be sensitized to ink component.
