- Abstract
More than half of the webpages (64%) advised avoiding allergy-triggering foods, education about food allergies and informing friends and family about the diagnosis. In the problem-focussed category, the most frequently suggested approaches for the management of food allergies were making an emergency management plan (76% of webpages) and carrying an auto-injector (72%). Although the webpages were targeted at non-professionals, readability of the webpages spanned from sixth grade (age 11) to university degree level, making all but one webpage too complex for at least 15% of the general population.5 The FKGL scores ranged from 5.5 to 18.4 (median 11, mean 11.01, SD 2.62).
