- Abstract
This study aimed to investigate the influence of motivation for work on organizational commitment. It is a case study, of descriptive nature and quantitative approach, that was carried out with 96 employees of the administrative sector. The case studied refers to a large industrial organization that operates with products derived from plastic and rubber, which is ISO 9001 certified and currently employs more than 600 employees, possessing a portfolio of more than fifteen hundred items. It was founded in the 1920s and has one of the most traditional brands in Brazil. The results showed that workers with intrinsic and extrinsic motivation had affective impairment. The higher the age group the greater the affective and normative commitment. Male workers demonstrated greater instrumental commitment. And, that the higher the level of schooling, the lower the affective and instrumental commitment. It was found that workers even acting in a context of similar work, which is the administrative sector, the reactions of the individual at work differed, which is related to human diversity and their perceptions regarding the environment. Effects of different variables under the relationships between the types of motivation for work and organizational commitment revealed the need to develop different actions in the organization to stimulate the different types of motivation of the individuals and consequently their commitment to work and performance . It was concluded that differences in age, gender and schooling influenced the predominant types of motivation and impairment, which is why these factors must be observed when new studies are carried out.
