- Title
Locality at Large: Time, Space, and Inter-Village Networks in Tainan's Saikang Koah-hiu Procession.
- Abstract
The article examines the relationship between locality and globalization and describes the inter-village communal festivals within the Han Chinese folk religion in the modern global arena. The Saikang Koah-hiu procession in Southern Taiwan is said to be a very large local festival which involves over 90 palanquins and troupes. A model, "Ecology of Authentification" is offered which can explain how a village accomplishes its village production and reproduction through traditional institutions.
