- Abstract
The article discusses the U.S.' Leahy-Smith America Invents Act of 2011 (LAIA) with regards to its impact on U.S.-China joint ventures. It states that cross-border innovation has been increasing and that almost 40 percent of patents in the U.S. naming a Chinese inventor also involves at least one non-Chinese co-inventor. It details the LAIA which reportedly amends the country's patent laws, making them beneficial for joint patent owners and joint inventors. It also tackles the definitions of inventor and joint inventor, joint inventorship, joint ownership and joint research agreements.
