- Title
Mutual Funds and 401(k) Plans: Selecting the Right Fund.
- Authors
Mumford, Kristin
- Abstract
Mutual funds can be expected to play a pivotal role in a small company's defined contribution plans, just as they do in the large corporate plans, for essentially the same reasons. In many defined contribution plans, especially 401(k) plans, the employees have a big say in managing their own financial concerns. Mutual funds represent one of the simplest and most cost-effective ways to provide a broad array of investment choices. With a modest amount of education, the average employee, who is most often not a seasoned investor, can understand mutual funds. This article provides information on mutual fund categories, and the ways of choosing the best fund in various situations.
