- Title
Hayward, Stuart Style: Monarchy, Dress and the Scottish Male Elite.
- Authors
Nyman, Perin Westerhof
- Abstract
On a deeper level, however, the breadth of the discussion drives home the categorical significance of dress and adornment in elite Stuart society. The second section considers the dissemination of Stuart style amongst the male elite; the practicalities of choosing, making and caring for garments; and the use of jewellery by elite Stuart men. The first thing the reader will notice about I Stuart Style i is that it is extremely appealing as a material object: a fitting attribute for a book that is, as noted on p. 19, all about the significance of "stuff".
