An introduction to the journal is presented that focuses on animal models of schizophrenia and Alzheimer's disease (AD), including an overview of the most prevalent developmental, pharmacologic, and genetic models of schizophrenia, the potential relationship between major depressive disorder and AD, and the potential role of the amyloid protein precursor in depression.
