- Abstract
This study examines the potential application of the radical view of Resource-Based Theory (RBT) to the resource mobilization strategies of social enterprises in Pakistan and its subsequent influence on their multiple performance outcomes. The field of social entrepreneurship knows little about the resource mobilization strategies as a processoriented approach. Resource poor environment of base of Pyramid (BOP) markets (particularly Pakistan), as a natural breeding ground for social enterprises, encourages them to look for non-traditional ways of mobilizing the resources like social capital. Though social capital, as reflected in inter-organizational and intra-organizational network relations, is a widely researched topic but it is somehow ignored under the context of social entrepreneurship. There is also dearth of studies that treats innovation as a mediating process that can lead to the multiple outcome instead of taking it as an independent outcome. Therefore, this study attempts to address this research gap by introducing a theoretical model that delineates that how the internal and external social capital influence the social innovation that subsequently leads to the achievement of the dual performance of the social ventures i.e. scaling of social impact and financial performance simultaneously.
