- Abstract
The article discusses the presence of the Black-rumped Buttonquail Turnix (hottentottus) nanus at the Lewa Wildlife Conservancy in central Kenya. The species is found in various parts of Africa and prefers open grasslands. There is debate among experts regarding the taxonomy of this species, with some considering it as a separate species and others treating it as a single species. The article presents recent records of the Black-rumped Buttonquail in Kenya, including one at the Lewa Conservancy. The presence of the birds suggests the possibility of breeding in the area, although it is more likely to be an unusual occurrence.
