- Abstract
The article discusses the veterinary study of the two-month old male Lhasa Apso pup with congenital hypothyroidism. It notes that hypothyroidism or cretinism was caused by iodine deficiency and thyroid dysgenesis which led to mental retardation, stunted growth, and skeletal underdevelopment. It references the study of Robinson and colleagues which indicated the efficacy of using the depressed serum thyroxin (T4) levels.
